Construction Junction:
Welcome to the Construction Junction, where we will keep you up to date on the progress of building the new hospital.

The first part of any project is the dirt work. I am sure you have seen the dirt movers and tractors out on the site, 3 miles south of Kingfisher. The dirt work always takes longer than anyone thinks it should as they move dirt around and then move new dirt in. The right kind of dirt in the right spot is the key. In this particular phase, they are removing much of the topsoil to prepare the pad site where the foundation of the hospital will eventually be poured. Once the topsoil is removed, then other materials are brought in to stabilize the ground so the foundation will sit on firm ground and bear the weight of the foundation.

The other major part of the phase is developing the drainage for the site. The area closest to Highway 81 is a detention pond to catch, hold, and slowly release the drainage from the rest of the property. The detention pond itself is about three acres and you can tell the depth of the pond already. Currently, the pond is not expected to hold water long term. It is simply intended to catch, hold and release the water at a flow rate that the downstream structures can accommodate.

Beyond these two major dirt projects, the roads, utilities and parking are also being developed.

We’re so excited to be able to offer this new state of the art facility to our communities. We hope you are as excited about the project as we are. Please drive by and watch our progress!
