Jamie Smith, Leader for “Girls in Action” and in charge of “Family Care Package” ministry of the First Baptist Church in Kingfisher, collected items for patient’s family members’ for Kingfisher Regional Hospital. The family care package drive was held in conjunction with the First Baptist Church National Children’s Ministry “Loving Hearts”. “Our drive began February 1st”,stated Smith, “and just recently ended. This year, we wanted to provide care packages for Kingfisher Regional Hospital patients’ family members’. We collected: blankets, puzzle books, cards, hand-held games, hygiene products, and snacks.” After all the items were sorted, each was packaged in a brightly colored sacks. The children who assisted in this project, then prayed over them, so that each would receive a special blessing.
Vickie Downing-Boyd, Chief Quality Officer at KRH was on hand to accept the gifts from the children. “Thank you for the packages”, stated Downing-Boyd, “ I feel blessed to live in this community where caring from the heart is so evident, especially when it comes from our children to our patients and their families.” |
