"Go Red" National Wear Red for Women!

Kingfisher Regional Hospital is committed to promoting health, wellness, prevention and the treatment of diseases in the communities we serve.  February is designated as American Heart Month, and Friday, February 6 is designated as National Women’s Red Heart Day!

Did you know that the number 1 killer of American women is heart disease?  “Go Red” is the American Heart Associations  call for women to take charge of their health to live stronger and healthier lives.

“Six ways to “Go Red” and take charge of your health;

1. Make a date and keep it!  Each year on your birthday       schedule a check up with your doctor.

2. Tone up as you tune in! Step, march or jog in place for at least 15 minutes a day while watching TV.

3. Grab some water.  Drink 8 - 8 oz. glasses of water each day.

4. Keep out of sight, out of mouth.  Keep your unhealthy foods hidden away.  Place raw vegetables and fruit to the front of your refrigerator.

5. Eat to be lean and shake the salt habit.  Food high in saturated fat can lead to high cholesterol.  Eat foods such as lean beef, chicken, turkey, fish, fruits, vegetables, low-fat or nonfat yogurt or pasta.  Help lower your blood pressure by watching your salt intake. And..

6.  Kick the habit of smoking.
