A total of more than 100 people participated in the first two free fitness classes offered as part of the Kingfisher County Celebrates Life 2 the Max health and wellness program.
Jazzercise, taught by Dorinda Provenzano, and an abs and booty boot camp taught by Paula Hendricks drew competitors in the Life 2 the Max fitness challenge as well as members of the general public.
Held at the Kingfisher First Baptist Church gym, the two programs are the first of 13 free classes scheduled each Saturday through March 6.
The eight-week Life 2 the Max program is the second installment of a program started last January by the Kingfisher Times and Free Press and Kingfisher Regional Hospital and sponsored by local businesses.
The event emphasizes the fitness and wellness resources available in Kingfisher County to help area residents live healthier lives.
Registration is not required to attend any or all of the free Saturday programs.
Events scheduled this Saturday include:
8 a.m. Let’s Get Motivated, presented by Hendricks, at the First Baptist Church gymnasium. This program is designed to help you get and stay motivated, even under stress.
9 a.m. Fletcher Pilates with Lisa Loosen Mullen at the FBC gym. Pilates is a core-centered exercise regimen focused on building strength without bulk.
10 a.m. Healthy Cooking with Steph Snider at the Kingfisher Church of Christ, 913 W. Will Rogers. Snider, a registered dietitian, will present tips and tricks for healthier eating and will prepare chicken tortilla pie and fresh salsa to share with participants.
